Twitter War Erupts between Sharper, Shiancoe
Boy coaches have to just love players using Twitter, and New Orleans Saint S Darren Sharper entered into a virtual war of words with Minnesota Vikings TE Vinsanthe Shiancoe. Last week, Sharper started the ball rolling in the ongoing feud when he made his X marks the spot in reference to Brett Favre’s ankle.

Shiancoe started fanning the flames of the fire after the Vikings left the practice field when talking about Sharper’s knee surgery. “But Sharper had surgery too. And it was the knee so if X marks the spot on Brett, I wonder what marks the spot on Sharper,” Shiancoe commented to reporters. Sharper took to Twitter on Thursday night, saying that Shiancoe would not catch more than 3 catches in the season opener on Thursday night prior to opening weekend.
Sharper then resembled a teenager who wanted to race for pink slips as he upped the ante to goading Shiancoe to play for his game check. “If you feeling yourself put your game check on it. No TDs and less than three catches you give me your game check. Now who’s talking?’ Sharper tweeted.
Football fans better get their popcorn ready on September 9th, this one is already getting good.

ABC26 is reporting that New Orleans Saints TE Jeremy Shockey has been taken to a local hospital after suffering from seizure like symptoms at the Saints weight room facility. The team and members of the media are awaiting further news.
Drew Brees a Buffalo Bill?
Almost. New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees came very close to becoming a member of the Buffalo Bills when he was drafted in 2001.

In 2001, Gregg Williams was the head coach of the Buffalo Bills and wanted to select Brees but Buffalo chose to go with Ohio State cornerback Nate Clements. Williams now however, is the defensive coordinator for the Saints and a key reason the Saints won their first ever Super Bowl last February.
Brees, addressing the Rochester Press Radio Club on May 13th said of Williams, “He was such a huge addition for us this year in what he brought to our defense in terms of mindset and attitude.”
Since Brees could have been selected by the Bills in 2001, 10 different quarterbacks have been under center for Buffalo. But Brees says he was destined to become a Saint. “For me to be in New Orleans, not only from the standpoint of the team and organization, but the community as well, I feel like it was part of destiny; part of God’s plan for me.”
Thousands of members of Who Dat Nation would agree.
Sharper’s Comments Could Draw Interest From the League
New Orleans Saints S Darren Sharper might be recovering from knee surgery, but his fingers seem to be working just fine. In just the latest of bad blood between the Vikings and Saints, Sharper has Favre on the brain. On Friday night he Tweeted, “Come Thursday night 1st game. X marks the spot.” Tweeting in a reference to Favre’s ankle. Sharper didn’t stop there, Tweeting later on, “I’ve seen him play on one leg, but not against WHO DAT nation”.
Coaches and team management must just love players using Twitter. Chad Ochocinco is using it to possibly find a wife. I’ll be interested to see if the League office looks into this matter. Even if the league investigates, Sharper could always take the Santonio Holmes defense.
No Time Off for Will Smith
New Orleans Saints DE Will Smith will likely not be suspended for the first 4 games of the 2010 season. A Minnesota judge upheld an injunction on the never ending StarCaps case, which would have suspended Will Smith along with three other NFL players.

The Minnesota judge ruled that the players cannot be suspended until they have exhausted their appellate options. This ruling also affects Minnesota Vikings players, Pat and Kevin Williams, affectionately known as the Williams Wall.
Smith is a key member of the Saints defensive line, where he recorded 13 sacks last season 49 tackles and 3 forced fumbles.
This comes a great news for the Saints who start the season at home against a pass happy Minnesota team and then face two division opponents in weeks 3 and 4.
